우리는 매우 위험한 지점에 도달했습니다. 경제는 악화일로를 걷고 있습니다. 지난주 제조업 지수는 20년래 최저치를 나타내기도 했습니다. 금요일에는 지난해 고용사정에 대한 마지막 지표가 발표됩니다. 우리가 이렇게 많은 일자리를 상실한 것은 2차 세계대전 이후 처음입니다. 이제 행동에 옮길 때입니다. 불황을 적극 타개해 가지 않으면 앞으로 몇 년은 대단히 불행할 겁니다.("We are in a very difficult spot; the economy is bad, the situation is getting worse. Last week, we learned that manufacturing had hit a 20 year low. On Friday we're going to get the final jobs report from this year and every indication is that we will have lost in 2008, more jobs than in any time since World War II. It's clear that we have to act and we have to act now to address this crisis and break the momentum of the recession or the next few years could be dramatically worse." )
